I'm Doris Clark. Welcome to Event Day Coordination & Group Reservations of Martha's Vineyard. Some people say that my middle name is "Hospitality" - I say my middle name is "Can Do." Whichever you choose, I have over 30 years experience in the hospitality industry starting with Flight Attendant for United Airlines. For twenty-six years I flew the First Flight Attendant / Chief Purser position. Then I bought a beautiful old house and converted it into a bed and breakfast inn. The first seven years of owning and operating the Twin Oaks Inn on Martha's Vineyard, I was both Flight Attendant and Innkeeper at the same time. I retired from United Airlines after twenty six wonderful years and continued as Innkeeper for a total eleven years. After airline retirement and while still an Innkeeper, I was the School to Career Coordinator at Martha's Vineyard Regional High School for five years. Multi-tasking comes natural to me.
After selling the Inn, I went to work for the Mansion House, a brand new boutique hotel in Vineyard Haven, as their Director of Hotel and Meeting Operations for three years. Not being one to have only one iron in the fire, I was also the Host of "On the Market" and "House and Home" shows on our local TV station, Plum TV. Now I work on-call for them. I also own and operate a directory website for everything on Martha's Vineyard at www.marthas-vineyard.com.
In the eleven years that I owned/operated Twin Oaks Inn, I coordinated several weddings and small meetings. At the Mansion House I coordinated countless weddings, meetings, birthday parties and other events. The largest wedding was about 150 people.
My family came to Martha's Vineyard in the late 1800's and have been here ever since. If you take the new ferry Island Home to or from the Island, you can see a picture of the family on the wall right outside of the snack bar. I have been back and forth all of my life and moved here full time in 1980. I commuted to Chicago for 16 years and then to New York for 10 years to fly my trips. The best of both worlds!
Twin Oaks Inn was featured in several publications including: Martha's Vineyard Times, Vineyard Gazette, Parade Magazine, Good Housekeeping, Country Inns Magazine, Bed & Breakfast Magazine, Essence Magazine, Black Enterprise, The Inn Times, Detroit Free Press, Black Convention Magazine, Philadelphia Tribune, BET's Real Business Program...just to name a few.
